We showed up for date night having never been. The service was phenomenal. Our server, Renata, helped us with the menu and nailed both food and drink (Perfect Stranger) recommendations. We had the mint cabbage salad, which was great and had lots of avocado. The Tacos Tropical were well balanced; fried shrimp with a jicama taco shell (which was a surprise favorite). The carne asada tacos were well portioned and filling. All around a great experience.
Really fantastic restaurant with Jaliscan-Californian inspired food. Service is great and they've got both indoor and outdoor seating available and you can make reservations on Resy in advance. The margaritas are so refreshing in the summertime and I can't leave without ordering their Flan. The vibes are really fun, decor is lively and colorful, and the food is always fresh and exciting.
My husband and I were craving Mexican food, and something just different from your regular taqueria, Flores, Elena's, Underdogs, Nopalito, etc. (lol, yes I guess we go to those places somewhat frequently). I hadn't been to Lolo in over 10 years, I'm guessing somewhat around the time they opened. I remember liking the place back then, but I'm glad we revisited it. We really enjoyed the food here. We ordered several things to share, including an Asparagus & Beet Tostada, Taco Tropical (panko crusted Shrimp on jicama tortillas), Tuna Tacon (seared tuna on flour tortilla), Beef Birria Quesadillas, and Carne Asada Salada plate with Mexican Rice. My favorites were probably both the tacos. What I liked about the dishes here were that the tacos were quite unique - it wasn't simply a regular taco you could get anywhere else, but they changed up the taco dish to make it modern, with the jicama tortilla, various sauces and accompaniments. I also liked the seafood and meat-free options. Don't get me wrong, I do love my meats, but it was fun to see things on the menu such as the cauliflower tacos. The seafood options were soooo good too - loved the tuna, and loved the crispy shrimp! The other items, tostada, quesadilla and carne asada plate were good too, but the tacos really stood out. If returning here to eat, I'd stick to all tacos. It was great for sharing too, each order of tacos comes with 2 smaller sized ones, so it's great to order a bunch and try different ones. I can't say I was a huge fan of their decor and vibe. It was super loud, hard to have conversation with my husband who was just sitting across from me. The music was blasting, in an irritating way. The decor is kind of gaudy and junky. I did like the car doors on the back, thought that was pretty cool, but everything else felt kinda gross and junky. There is a parklet outside, which seemed okay. They were also blasting the annoying music though, so you really can't escape that at this restaurant lol. The service was excellent here. We had a 7:15pm reservation, arrived here quite early at 6:45pm, but our table was ready, so they seated us early! We were able to order our food and drinks pretty quickly, and the food came at a very decent pace. Also, the restaurant paced our food well, so everything fit on the table, and came at an appropriate time. I will definitely return if craving tacos. There were just a large variety to choose from, and the twist to make it modern Mexican was quite fun!
A friend scoped this place out to try so we went for an early dinner. I made a reservation on Resy for 5:30 when they open. I didn't think I'd need to but they get busy with a wait quickly so I recommend one when you go. All in all I thought this place was pretty solid. Given the popularity it's obviously a good place, I just think competition is so stiff in the Mish for great Mexican grub there are a lot of options. Still, this is a cute, fun neighborhood spot with great service as others have mentioned and good food. We tried: - Queso with mushrooms. AOK. No issues with it. Real melted cheese. Nice fresh tortillas tucked under the hot plate which was a little weird at first but actually a great idea to keep them hot. - Margs. Tasty and on point, but a little pricey. - Carnitas for me. Pretty good. I was hungry and didn't think it would fill me up but with the included tortillas it did as you're eating the equivalent of 5 tacos or so. The carnitas were cooked and seasoned quite well and I enjoyed each bite. I'd go back, just not sure it's a destination for me yet. A great option though.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in SF. It's a modern, but authentic take on Mexican cuisine. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorites are the tuna tacon, taco tropical, and the micheladas. The service is always solid.
Was looking for a small bite to eat for dinner and this place hit the spot. The vibes were super lively; a great restaurant for grabbing a drink with friends. Our waitress was super kind and answered all of our questions about the menu. We ended up ordering the Taco-Tropical, Fish Tacos, and Beef Birria Quesadillas. Taco-Tropical (10/10): Honestly one of the best tacos I've ever had. I loved that it was wrapped in jicama instead of a flour tortilla. It was insanely refreshing and the shrimp was perfectly crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Fish Tacos (9/10): The fish tacos were so yummy. I loved how the fish was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. It paired great with the avocado and cabbage. Birria Quesadilla (7/10): Yummy, but just tasted like a typical birria quesadilla. It was a little heavy, but I liked that they gave us onions and salsa to pair it with.
Came here for a team dinner and was really impressed by the food! We started off with chips, guac and salsa. I think the guac and salsa were just OK. The empanadas and esquites were delicious though! The fried chicken taco was good but really hard to eat. Definitely recommend a fork and knife for it. Flavors were on point though. Churros with dark chocolate sauce to end was fantastic too!! I'll be back :)
